1) The first time you burn your candle, make sure to let the melt pool reach the full diameter of the vessel. This will allow it to burn properly for the rest of the life of the candle. Never burn a candle longer than 4 hours.
2) Make sure to trim your wick before burning, every time. If you do not trim your wick, it may not stay lit, the flame may become too large, or it may produce black smoke. To trim, simply use your fingers to pinch off any black charred wood, or you can use nail clippers. You want your wick to be 1/8” tall.
Doing these two things will solve 99% of any problems with a wooden wick candle. If you have any other issues or questions please do not hesitate to reach out to us at sixteenandvine on Instagram & facebook. Or send us an email at kaitlinhamilton1@gmail.com
